It's perceptive. It's irreverent. But, more than anything, FoxTrot is reliably funny year after year, strip after strip. FoxTrot Collection is the latest collection of strips featuring the funny and flawed Fox family. It marks the 23rd collection of this comic strip staple that can be found in more than 1,000 newspapers worldwide every day. FoxTrot Collection is the latest chronicle of the chaotic Fox family-parents Roger and Andy, teenagers Peter and Paige, and ten-year old Jason and his pet iguana, Quincy. This book finds Roger behind his keyboard struggling to write a spy novel, prompting helpful writing advice from Jason such as "the 'on' switch is that little round one." The others add to the insanity, with Jason battling video games, Paige searching for a personal assistant, Peter eating and eating, and Andy stressing through it all.Everyone experiences day-to-day turmoil in their family life, which is why Bill Amend's FoxTrot Collection is sure to resonate with readers across the globe.

A POGO FOR PO-MOS AND A POPEYE FOR PUNKS, UNDERWORLD IS FLAT-OUT FUNNY. It's the fifth collection of cartoonist Kaz's alternative comic strip, Underworld, which has created a cult audience in over ten major markets for over a decade now in papers like The New York Press and Seattle Stranger (to give you an idea, the earlier collections have all appeared on the bestsellers list for New York's Shakespeare&Co. Books). For the first time, this volume will include an all-new 8-page, full color comic story entitled, "A Slice of Eye." Starring Salvador Dali, Kaz takes the painter's surrealist philosophies (paranoia critical method, edible beauty, etc.) and re-imagines them as a wacky screwball comedy. Kaz's use of Dali will come as no surprise to longtime Underworld fans whom have fallen in love with Kaz's Dali-like surreal and absurd re-invention of the classic American newspaper strip.

The best thing about this project by Too Much Coffee Man creator Wheeler is its package: three tiny hardcover books inside a minuscule slipcase that recalls Maurice Sendak's Nutshell Library. The books themselves collect the weekly comic strip Wheeler draws for the Onion: a single gag panel the size of a postage stamp. The jokes themselves are, by necessity, mighty simpleāso simple, in fact, that they're not actually all that funny, despite the classic magazine-cartoon setups most of them riff on. The most charitable interpretation is that Wheeler is trying to devise gags that just barely qualify as humor. (Woman to duck: I've had it with your fowl language. Chess piece: I'm sick of being a pawn. One man on a park bench to another: I feel like I should be saying something funny. That's over 3% of the cartoons in this set right there, and quite a few of the rest are poop jokes.) Occasionally, hints of Wheeler's warm, fluid linework from his bigger work shine through the format's enforced minimalism, and there are a few bits of cute formal play (a man yelling Aaarg! as he's skewered by the tail of his own word balloon, for instance).
